Myxer is a mobile media sharing company that lets web publishers offer a way for site visitors to mobilize their content, launching here at DEMO. With the Myxer widget, site visitors can send content to their mobile phones with drag’n’drop ease and almost instant results.
How It Works:
There’s a button publishers place on their website inviting site visitors to launch the widget. Content can then be dragged over the widget, and immediately downloaded. Both videos and images can be sent to a mobile phone, and publishers can also use this platform to sell their content. You select the price and description of various content items on your site, like an instructional video, and site visitors have the option of downloading it directly to their mobile phones. There’s also an option for users to keep this as a desktop widget for themselves, collecting various types of media from around th web. You can’t yet mobilze selected text, but this option will be added in the near future, and will show up on your cell phone as a text message. Other ways in which this widget is being used is for downloading ringtones and mobile wallpaper.
Another neat thing that Myxer has don is found a way to distribute its mobile content through Twitter, where a daily ringtone is made available by the company. If you’re receiving your Twitter updates on your ell phone, then you can opt to add Myxer’s Twitter ringtone directly to your cell phone. I like this particular use of Twitter for content distribution, as I think tat Twitter cold be used in many, many was for just this. So it’s always interesting to see what ways this is actually achieved by companies.
